New procedure for visitor entry to the Turkish Grand National Assembly

Atay recalled that the decision to build a new visitor gate was made by the TBMM Security Coordination Board.

Stating that visitor entry to the Parliament is currently handled through the Dikmen gate, Atay explained that a new visitor entrance gate has been constructed in the parking area adjacent to the Dikmen gate due to the high volume of traffic.

Sermet Atay continued as follows:

"Our visitors arriving at the TBMM by vehicle will enter through the newly constructed gate, which we call Dikmen Gate No. 2. This gate will open as the fifth gate of the TBMM. Thus, entries through the Çankaya and Dikmen Gate No. 1 will decrease, and traffic congestion will be alleviated. We will specifically prevent the congestion that occurs on days when political parties hold their group meetings. Our visitors coming to meet with our deputies will be able to enter more comfortably by vehicle. There is a parking lot in the area where the gate is located. Arrangements have also been made in this parking lot. Visitors will be able to leave their vehicles in the parking lot and enter through this gate."

Explaining that a new control and entry point has been created with the construction of Dikmen Gate No. 2, Atay stated that visitors will be able to enter the Parliament campus after undergoing security checks at this gate.

Noting that the new practice will also reduce traffic within the TBMM campus, Atay announced that the new entrance gate will be put into use after next week.

Sermet Atay stated that ministers and deputies will continue to use the Çankaya gate for entry.
