AKP Tekirdağ Deputy Mestan Özcan has clarified his recent remarks regarding his parliamentary salary and the struggle to make ends meet. Özcan stated that his words were misunderstood and led to different perceptions in the public eye.

In a written statement released via social media, Özcan said that the expressions in question were voiced in a sincere and friendly environment. Stating, "I have never had any intention to hurt, offend, or upset anyone with my words," Özcan emphasized that he was only trying to explain the responsibilities associated with the parliamentary office.

In his statement, Özcan rejected the perception that he was experiencing financial hardship, expressing that his words were misinterpreted and taken out of context.

Özcan said, "The expressions I voiced at the meeting in question are merely sincere thoughts describing the responsibilities that come with being a deputy. These are not a complaint; they aim to clarify technical issues that are often misunderstood."
