Newroz fire lit in Diyarbakır: Will a letter from PKK leader Öcalan arrive?
Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the celebrations held at Newroz Park in Diyarbakır's Bağlar district from the early hours of the morning. It was expected that messages from PKK leader Öcalan and CHP leader Özgür Özel would be read at this year's celebrations. However, according to the statement made by the DEM Party, no message from Öcalan will arrive for Newroz.

Newroz celebrations, which take place every year in Diyarbakır with high participation, began this year under the leadership of the DEM Party. Organized under the slogan "Democratic Society for Freedom," the celebrations are being held at Newroz Park in the Bağlar district.
From the early hours of the morning, thousands of people arrived at the area after passing through security checkpoints set up at various points in the city.

The crowd gathered in the Newroz area began the celebrations by lighting the traditional Newroz fire.
MESSAGES FROM ÖCALAN AND ÖZEL EXPECTED
One of the notable aspects of this year's celebrations is the plan to read a message from PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan. On the other hand, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel is also expected to send a message to the celebrations.
KEMAL KURKUT COMMEMORATED
An important commemoration was held before the celebrations. University student Kemal Kurkut, who lost his life due to police gunfire during the Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakır in 2017, was commemorated by a group that included DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan. The delegation left carnations at the spot where Kurkut was shot.
In addition to DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, DBP Co-Chairs, and DTK and HDK Co-Spokespersons were also present at the Newroz program.
Furthermore, Labor Party (EMEP) Chairman Seyit Aslan, SYKP Co-Chair Mertcan Titiz, Future Party Executive Board member Aydın Altaç, Felicity Party Diyarbakır Provincial Chairman Abdurrahman Ergin, and former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer were among the names who attended the celebrations.
