The chairmen of the two parties came together for the first time in 8 years. New details have emerged regarding the critical summit, which lasted 1.5 hours.
According to a report by Gazete Duvar; Özel expressed his dissatisfaction with the seating arrangement at the very beginning of the meeting. Erdoğan stated that a return visit should be planned by his Chief of Staff so that this arrangement would not be perceived as a lack of courtesy. During the meeting, CHP MP Namık Tan took notes using the shorthand method.
ERDOĞAN CONGRATULATES ÖZEL ON THE ELECTION
The two leaders exchanged gifts. Touching upon the election results, Erdoğan stated that the CHP had gained momentum with Özel's victory and congratulated him on his electoral success.

Özel gave Erdoğan two photographs of Vera, the daughter of Tayfun Kahraman, who is imprisoned as part of the Gezi Park trial. In one of these photos, Vera Kahraman was seen before her father entered prison, and in the other, after he had entered. Özel emphasized that Vera Kahraman is growing up while her father is in prison.
ERDOĞAN BROUGHT UP THE CONSTITUTION AGENDA
During the meeting, Erdoğan brought up the issue of a new Constitution, referring to the ongoing discussions led by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. Özel reiterated his criticisms that the current constitution is not being implemented. He stated that it would not be appropriate to discuss a new constitution in an environment where the existing one is not being followed.
JULY 15 ASSESSMENT
The July 15 coup attempt was also on the agenda during the meeting. Özel reminded those present that he was among the MPs at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) that night and stated that he does not give credence to claims that July 15 was a "theatrical performance."
