Grand National Assembly of Turkey Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş commemorated poet and writer Nuri Pakdil with a message on social media on the 6th anniversary of his passing.
Sharing Pakdil's words, "Walk, my brother. May a Jerusalem strength come to your feet," Kurtulmuş stated, "I commemorate Nuri Pakdil, who centered his work on the consciousness of Islam and brotherhood and united the voice of these lands with the language of resistance, with mercy and gratitude."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Nuri Pakdil was a figure known for his anti-Republic and anti-Atatürk views. At the Necip Fazıl Awards ceremony organized by Star newspaper, he chanted the slogan "How happy is the one who says I am a Muslim" and, when asked "Are you against Atatürk?", he replied, "I am against the Pharaoh; those who read me know who I mean."
