Number of MPs in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey decreases, seat distribution changes

Following the resignations of Doğan Demir, İsa Mesih Şahin, and Selim Temurci from the Future Party, the seat distribution in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has changed, and the number of independent members of parliament has risen to 14.

Future Party Istanbul MPs Doğan Demir, İsa Mesih Şahin, and Selim Temurci have resigned from their party.

Following the resignation of the 3 deputies, the number of independent members of parliament in the TBMM has risen to 14, and the seat distribution in the General Assembly has also changed.

NUMBER OF MPS DROPPED FROM 600 TO 592

The total number of MPs in the TBMM has dropped from 600 to 592 due to the deaths of Felicity Party Kocaeli MP Hasan Bitmez and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder, the revocation of the parliamentary status of Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Hatay MP Can Atalay, the resignation of AKP Istanbul MP Murat Kurum upon his appointment as Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the resignations of CHP MPs Burcu Köksal, Abdurrahman Tutdere, Hasan Baltacı, and Ahmet Önal, who were elected as mayors in their respective electoral districts.
