Official statement from DEM Party: Did Başak Demirtaş file a candidacy application?

DEM Party Group Deputy Chairperson Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit made statements at a press conference held in Parliament.

When asked whether Başak Demirtaş, the wife of former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, had filed an official candidacy application, Koçyiğit said, "I think there is actually a misunderstanding. This became a subject of polemic on social media. The statement made by our friend Başak constitutes an official application from our perspective."

"In that sense, we do not need an extra application," Koçyiğit stated, adding, "I suppose it is being asked in terms of paperwork? She has no such application."

Koçyiğit said, "The statement she already made is an application. We have received and accepted this application. There is no problem."
