Following allegations that Ali Pelit, who serves as the mayor of the town of Çat in Tokat, would be joining the AKP, the New Welfare Party (YRP) issued a statement.

In the written statement released by the party, it was noted that Ali Pelit was elected mayor from the YRP in the March 31, 2024 Local Administration Elections, and that he was definitively expelled from the party on June 30, 2025, as a result of a decision made by the disciplinary board. Thus, it was emphasized that all ties between Pelit and the New Welfare Party have been severed.

The statement further underlined that reports appearing in some media outlets in recent days, in which Ali Pelit is still referred to as the "New Welfare Party Mayor," do not reflect the truth, and that Pelit currently has no relationship with their party.

The YRP leadership once again announced that the public should not give credence to misleading information and that this is the true situation.
