Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, millions of citizens participated in the primary election organized by the CHP. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced in a statement made in Saraçhane that approximately 15 million people cast their votes at the ballot box, including solidarity votes.
Özel announced that as a result of the primary election, Ekrem İmamoğlu was determined as the CHP's presidential candidate.
