Opposition wing in CHP reacts: Kılıçdaroğlu responds to calls for a party congress!

The CHP's deputy retreat, held in Bolu for the new legislative year, has concluded. Criticisms regarding party management, the congress process, and the Central Executive Board (MYK) were among the prominent topics at the retreat.

According to the report by Nefes, it was learned that approximately 15 opposition deputies took the floor during the meetings, delivering the message: "Let us do whatever is necessary to give hope to the public in order to become the main opposition again. This cannot go on." It was reported that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu responded to these assessments by saying, "We will say new things, but we are not calling it 'change.' We must put forward new things; we must renew ourselves."

One of the most critical agendas at the retreat was when the party congress would be held. Some deputies argued that the congress is the place to resolve internal disputes and that the process should be initiated without waiting until 2027.

In response to the calls for a congress, it was stated that Kılıçdaroğlu remarked, "Only our party base wants a congress. Other than that, the voters are not interested in this." Upon a deputy's question regarding how the party would be managed, it was learned that Kılıçdaroğlu said, "We will manage our party as it should be managed. We will manage it in a rational, scientific way, as it should be."

Criticisms directed at the MYK were also voiced in the closed-door meetings. It was stated that some deputies reacted with the words, "The MYK needs to pull itself together. They have become very worn out. They are chasing their own political futures," and that the criticisms were particularly concentrated on the topics of local governments, party organizations, and media.
