Calls for the trial of CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu to be broadcast on TRT continue to remain on the agenda. While MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli approached this call from CHP leader Özgür Özel positively, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also commented on Bahçeli's move, saying, "It is a very good appreciation, it will be beneficial."
DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, in his statement on Karar TV, suggested that broadcasting trials on TRT might not be in President Erdoğan's best interest. Babacan said, "One should not fear the conscience of the nation. Let it be revealed who is right and who is wrong. We always support transparency. But I am not really sure if the President would want this. I mean, let's see, since we worked together for many years, after doing some accounting of the pros and cons, it might not be in his best interest."
Babacan also touched upon the early election debates, stating that Erdoğan would not go to an early election on a date where he sees a risk of losing. He used the expressions, "Erdoğan would not take the country to an early election on a date he knows he will lose. He looks at it, if I move the election forward, if I hold the election 3 months later, will I win or lose? If there is a risk of losing, he won't do it. Why would he put his power at risk?"
