Özel’s Valentine’s Day jab: Erdoğan went and embraced Sisi on Valentine’s Day

Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel evaluated the meeting between AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, who visited Egyptian President Sisi today, with the following words: “Erdoğan celebrated Valentine’s Day by meeting with Sisi. Erdoğan had repeatedly refused to make peace with Sisi. He had said, ‘I will not sit at the same table with him.’ He went and embraced Sisi on Valentine’s Day.”

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and CHP’s Etimesgut candidate, actor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, opened a district election coordination office. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also attended the opening.

Some of the CHP’s Ankara deputies and Deputy Chairman Yalçın Karatepe were also present at the event. CHP officials addressed the citizens who came to the opening. The first person to appear on the campaign bus was Erdal Beşikçioğlu.

Emphasizing that he is very excited, Beşikçioğlu said, “We will make Etimesgut, Atatürk’s district in Ankara, the city of Atatürk, a brand city.”

"THE SOLUTION IS IN SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC MUNICIPALISM"

Stating that they are meeting with citizens street by street, Beşikçioğlu said they are aware of the unresolved problems and added, “If there is a problem, the solution is in social democratic municipalism, in governing together, and in being transparent and accountable.”

Stating that they will work ‘24/7’, Erdal Beşikçioğlu said that their goal is social municipalism and that they are planning the next 30 years of Etimesgut.

"THOSE WHO CANNOT ACCOUNT IN THIS WORLD CANNOT ACCOUNT IN THE NEXT"

Reminding that they have spent 5 years, ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş said, “You did not see those running for rent by my side. We all worked together for the people. We broadcast more than 4 thousand of our tenders live.

We are being held accountable. We are not afraid of anything. Unlike others, we do not say, ‘I will account in the next world.’ Those who cannot account in this world cannot account in the next. We have buried the philosophy of ‘he steals but he works’ deep beneath the sidewalks of Ankara,” he said.

"WHEN I LOOK AT HIM, I SEE THE HEROIC TURKISH POLICE"

Following Yavaş, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke. Reminding that the candidate determination processes are behind them, Özgür Özel expressed that it is time to take to the streets.

Stating that Etimesgut is a developing district but one ‘whose value is not known by some,’ Özel praised Erdal Beşikçioğlu with these words:

“Investment is coming to cities managed by the CHP, and the cities are becoming more beautiful. We are coming to do this for Etimesgut. We offered Etimesgut to someone who protects the Ankara identity, who changes the place he touches, and who is loved by the people. And he accepted. When I look at him, I see an Ankara enthusiast, a heroic Turkish police officer who gives no quarter to criminals.”

"WE PROMISE TO FULFILL ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF POPULIST MUNICIPALISM"

Özel said, “Everyone saw what kind of sense of justice he had while providing services, and that he did not steal. Now is the time to reward this honest municipalism. I am telling the story of Mansur Yavaş as an example throughout Turkey.”

Responding to the expressions used by Devlet Bahçeli in his meeting with Turgut Altınok, Özgür Özel said, “If they had listened to his words last time, there would be no food aid, no hot meal aid for university students, and no rural development. We promise to protect each of the six arrows, to know the value of republicanism, and to fulfill all the requirements of populist municipalism.”

“HE IS EMBRACING SISI ON VALENTINE’S DAY”

Today is February 14, today is Valentine’s Day. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone who loves each other, to spouses, to lovers. Everyone is rushing to their loved ones, and Mr. Tayyip went to Egypt today, he rushed to Sisi in Egypt. He is celebrating Valentine’s Day there. Look at Mr. Tayyip, when he was asked, ‘Will you make peace with Sisi?’, he said: ‘There are many who want to make me make peace with Sisi. I never accept it.

I won’t either. Why, because of this. We are facing an anti-democrat who sentenced Morsi, who received 52 percent of the public vote, and his friends to prison. I will not sit at the same table with him. I am a democrat. I would never meet with such a person. First of all, I need to see him release everyone inside with a general amnesty. I do not see the coup-plotter Sisi as President on the international platform, I do not accept it. I did not sit at the same table, and I never will.

If I sit, I deny myself. If I sit, I cannot be a democrat. If I sit, I cannot be a human.’ He went and embraced Sisi on Valentine’s Day. But there is a truth. For years, we told him, ‘There is no such thing as interstate resentment, meet with Sisi.’ We said, ‘You withdrew the ambassador, send him back.’ We said, ‘It is a pity for those working there, it is a pity for our students, it is a pity for those of us who export so much, it is a pity for our employers, our contractors.’

He did not listen, now he is making peace due to his own relations, but the sin of those who have suffered so much for all these years is also on him. When we said that there should be no resentment between states, that he should show his reaction if he is going to, and that he should fix the situation as soon as possible, he used to call us ‘Traitors, coup-supporters, lovers of coup-plotters.’ Today, he has embraced the one who carried out the coup and is posing. He has denied everything he has said until today and has come to the right path, but embracing on Valentine’s Day also suits the gentleman.”
