Özel’s Valentine’s Day jab: Erdoğan went and embraced Sisi on Valentine’s Day

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and CHP’s Etimesgut candidate, actor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, opened a district election coordination office. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also attended the opening.

Some of the CHP’s Ankara deputies and Deputy Chairman Yalçın Karatepe were also present at the event. CHP officials addressed the citizens who came to the opening. The first person to appear on the campaign bus was Erdal Beşikçioğlu.

Emphasizing that he is very excited, Beşikçioğlu said, “We will make Etimesgut, Atatürk’s district in Ankara, the city of Atatürk, a brand city.”

Stating that they are meeting with citizens street by street, Beşikçioğlu said they are aware of the unresolved problems and added, “If there is a problem, the solution is in social democratic municipalism, in governing together, and in being transparent and accountable.”

Stating that they will work ‘24/7’, Erdal Beşikçioğlu said that their goal is social municipalism and that they are planning the next 30 years of Etimesgut.

Following Yavaş, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke. Reminding that the candidate determination processes are behind them, Özgür Özel expressed that it is time to take to the streets.

Stating that Etimesgut is a developing district but one ‘whose value is not known by some,’ Özel praised Erdal Beşikçioğlu with these words:

“Investment is coming to cities managed by the CHP, and the cities are becoming more beautiful. We are coming to do this for Etimesgut. We offered Etimesgut to someone who protects the Ankara identity, who changes the place he touches, and who is loved by the people. And he accepted. When I look at him, I see an Ankara enthusiast, a heroic Turkish police officer who gives no quarter to criminals.”

Özel said, “Everyone saw what kind of sense of justice he had while providing services, and that he did not steal. Now is the time to reward this honest municipalism. I am telling the story of Mansur Yavaş as an example throughout Turkey.”

Responding to the expressions used by Devlet Bahçeli in his meeting with Turgut Altınok, Özgür Özel said, “If they had listened to his words last time, there would be no food aid, no hot meal aid for university students, and no rural development. We promise to protect each of the six arrows, to know the value of republicanism, and to fulfill all the requirements of populist municipalism.”
