Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik has drawn attention to the increasing threats against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on social media. In a post on his social media account, Çelik emphasized that the government remains silent in the face of such threats and that judicial authorities have taken no action, calling on officials to perform their duties.

In his statement, Özgür Çelik used the following expressions:

"The government has completely lost its way. They are now at a point where they can easily make death threats on social media. Neither the Republic of Turkey deserves this cheapness, nor is Ekrem İmamoğlu without support."

Stating that judicial units act rapidly against criticism but remain silent regarding threats, Çelik reacted with the following words:

"Judicial units that open investigations and make arrests within minutes at the slightest criticism take no action regarding the blackmail, slander, and threats made every day. Trolls disguised as journalists also make posts every day to prepare this ground."

CALL TO MINISTERS

Inviting the Ministries of Interior and Justice to perform their duties, Çelik emphasized that they must act with the seriousness of the state. Stating that the threats against İmamoğlu cannot be ignored, Çelik demanded that authorities take immediate action against such attacks.
