Özgür Özel attacks Erdoğan over his diploma: Let him host an iftar with his schoolmates and we'll see

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the headquarters of the Labor Party (EMEP). Following the meeting, Özel and EMEP Chairman Seyit Aslan made assessments regarding the current agenda.

Seyit Aslan argued that the law in Turkey has been turned into a tool of pressure on the opposition, drawing attention to President Erdoğan's emphasis on a "New Turkey" during the AKP's 8th Ordinary Congress. Aslan said, "What they call the 'New Turkey' is a system where the stick of the judiciary is used against the opposition every single day, where union rights are restricted, strikes are banned, and millions of minimum-wage earners are condemned to live at the hunger threshold. We do not accept such a Turkey."

''INVESTIGATIONS ARE OPENED WHILE MAYORS ARE AT THE PODIUM''

Aslan stated that pressure on politicians in Turkey is increasing, saying, "An investigation is opened against a mayor while they are at the podium, and opposition politicians are detained in the middle of the night. This is unacceptable."

Özgür Özel stated that they support the "Union without thresholds, strike without bans, secure employment" campaign launched by the Labor Party, emphasizing the importance of defending workers' rights.

''WE OPPOSE UNLAWFUL ARRESTS''

Drawing attention to the politicization of the judiciary through the operations targeting the HDK, Özel said, "We object to the indictment prepared for Ahmet Özer, which is finally ready but empty. The Istanbul Provincial Chair of the Labor Party was also arrested. They want us to believe in the HDK operation, but we have a finalized decision from the Court of Cassation stating that the HDK has no connection to a terrorist organization. Despite this, people are being arrested."

Özel also criticized the ongoing process, stating that the judiciary is being used as a tool of pressure against opposition politicians, using the phrase, "The mobile guillotine is trying to hurt us all."

The CHP leader stated that they will be in solidarity with the members of the Labor Party, saying, "Our struggle together will continue. I greet all EMEP members on behalf of the CHP."

Özel continued his remarks as follows: 

Serap mentioned that she wanted to join the CHP, and she knows our approach to this matter. She had called the chairman of the party she joined a 'one-man ruler.' If there is no compatibility there, is there a lack of compatibility with us? 

While the diploma of the person managing the country is controversial, bringing such a debate to the agenda and hoping for the cancellation of that diploma is a sign of how much they fear Ekrem İmamoğlu. If there is a political mind managing the AK Party, it is obvious that they have taken the most wrong step possible. There cannot be such an amateurish move. It is clear that there are no schoolmates or professors who taught Erdoğan, and there is no photograph of him in an amphitheater. Let him organize an iftar with his schoolmates and tell his memories.
