Özgür Özel calls Erkan Baş to offer support regarding 'Can Atalay'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke by phone with Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Chairman Erkan Baş after Hatay MP Can Atalay was not released despite the Constitutional Court's second ruling of rights violation.

Özel pointed out that the failure to issue a release order despite the Constitutional Court's ruling amounts to a refusal to recognize the Constitution, and indicated that this was done under the direct instruction of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Özel conveyed his solidarity and support regarding the legal process and the planned actions.

Evaluating the second violation ruling issued by the Constitutional Court regarding imprisoned Hatay MP Can Atalay, the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court sent the file to the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation on the grounds that it did not pertain to the decision taken by the local court.
