Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ delivered his closing speech yesterday in Antalya on the final day of his party's Provincial Chairmen Consultation Meeting. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into Özdağ for the crime of insulting the President, citing remarks he made regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In the speech that became the subject of the investigation, Özdağ referenced the Crusades and used the expression, "Rest assured that no Crusade has caused as much damage to the Turkish nation and the Turkish state as Erdoğan and the AKP have."
