Özgür Özel comments on the meeting between Kılıçdaroğlu and Yavaş

Attending a solidarity dinner held by the October 10 Peace Association at the Vedat Dolakay Cocktail Hall, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel answered questions from members of the press there.

When asked for his assessment regarding the fact that former Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu, who met with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş for dinner, will also have dinner with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in the coming days, Özel stated, "Whoever is communicating with whom in the CHP, especially if they are sitting down and having a conversation over dinner, this is a move for the benefit of the party."

"THIS IS VERY GOOD"

Stating that Yavaş had informed him about the dinner and that he had conveyed his satisfaction, Özel continued his remarks as follows:

"I also followed Ekrem Bey's statement in recent days. It is a dinner that will take place in the coming days or weeks. This is very good. If dinners are not being held, if friends who have served as metropolitan mayors or held office together with the former chairman are not eating together or talking, that would be newsworthy. The fact that a dinner is considered newsworthy shows that we also need a bit of normalization in these matters. I characterize these as valuable, important, and supported steps toward normalization and a normal state of affairs within the party."

"I WAS WORRIED"

When asked about the remarks made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli regarding his party during the group meeting, Özel said, "Just as I was about to evaluate them, I learned that Mr. Bahçeli felt the need to rest a bit upon leaving, and I was worried. I received information about his health status from the group deputy chairmen. I conveyed my get-well wishes to him and skipped that agenda. There is no point in returning to that agenda now."
