Turkey has left the March 31 Local Elections behind.
According to unofficial results, the CHP, which reached a vote share of 37.77 percent in the election, has become the leading party across Turkey.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel evaluated the local election results on Halk TV with İsmail Küçükkaya.
Speaking about a possible early election, Özel said, "If we do not make mistakes in the next election, we will be in power 100 percent. One pillar of this is local governments."
Making a confession regarding the election results of May 14 and 28, Özel stated, "If we are to engage in self-criticism, May 14 was lost due to the collective and individual mistakes of the Six-Party Table. They say Tayyip Erdoğan won May 14 and May 28; no, we lost them."
Özel continued his words as follows;
"What did the AKP media always busy itself with? That Özgür Özel is not a leader, that there is this infighting in the CHP. What did I always say? 'They can keep dreaming.' Why? Because victory is coming on April 1, and they are waiting for a defeat. Why are they doing this? They know what a strong opposition can achieve. There is no infighting in the CHP, and we have not fought with the opposition, nor will we. There was a theft of national will in Eskişehir; I went there three times. If the thief of national will had won, I would have been devastated. It is a very important success. On the other hand, there was Balıkesir; in all of these, justice has been served. But I will not mention their names. They are in the opposition; one does not oppose the opposition. We will deal with the government all together. I cannot have a calculation like 'we are at 38 percent in the opposition, let's destroy the others.' Neither the Constitutional Court nor the leaders of other parties can close parties. If parties are to be closed, the people will close them. Everyone who has been elected has a place on my head, and that is why I will never fight with the opposition. But we deprived people of the joy they experienced on March 31 with the mistakes we made together and separately. We see our faults, and I became a candidate for chairman because I swore not to make them experience such sadness again; I became chairman because I convinced them of that, and because we convinced people, we shattered the glass ceiling."
