Özgür Özel's '50+1' response to Erdoğan: 'That's how they hold you hostage'
Turkish politics has become fixated on the 50+1 percent requirement for presidential elections after President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan told reporters on his return from Germany that he wanted the rule changed. In his speech at his party's group meeting, CHP leader Özgür Özel told Erdoğan, "You put your heads together with the MHP and said, 'Don't change a single dot or comma.' That is how they hold you hostage, my brother."

President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan had stated on the plane returning from Germany that he wanted the 50+1 percent requirement for presidential elections to be changed.
Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the MHP, a partner in the People's Alliance, responded to those remarks from the parliamentary podium. Bahçeli said, "The democratic legitimacy of this system is 50+1!" Bahçeli also made a reference to Sinan Oğan.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN GAZA
Events in Palestine actually began with Hamas's midnight rocket attacks on civilians and border crossings, which also caused the greatest harm to the Palestinian people. The Israeli government, seizing this as an opportunity, embarked on an incredible attack and genocide against Palestine under the guise of fighting Hamas. Since that day, 13,300 people have lost their lives. In a hospital in Gaza where the electricity was cut, children in incubators died from suffocation.

What needs to be done today, instead of shedding crocodile tears tomorrow, is to stand up for the children in Palestine and for Palestine itself.

JUDICIARY CRISIS
The Court of Cassation is defying the law. The issue at hand is not a constitutional crisis; the issue is the refusal to recognize the Constitution. Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş is not doing what he should be doing on behalf of Parliament. The CHP has decided to resist the Court of Cassation's coup attempt. Erdoğan is at the head of the coup attempt.

Devlet Bey came out today and said, 'There may be shortcomings, but there can be no concessions; no one can drive a wedge between us and the President.' It is not possible for us to be occupied with these matters. Mr. Erdoğan, I don't know what you are going to change. Whether you change the system, change your partner, change the alliance, or change your shirt like the betrayal you committed against the late Erbakan, change whatever you want; you will not be able to change the Constitution with us. The Constitution is made for every person born, not for Erdoğan. You put your heads together with the MHP and said, 'Don't change a single dot or comma.' That is how they hold you hostage, my brother."
This resembles a failing marriage where one person wants to end it and the other wants to continue it.
