CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited Selahattin Demirtaş at Edirne Prison. Highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:

''Mr. Demirtaş gave me a call to action. He says that for social peace, violence against women must be stopped and that we must all strive for this. Demirtaş gifted me his latest book, where he also talks about the 'man within us.' After people in Turkey love each other and internalize social peace, it will be beautiful again—just as it was 100 years ago.''

THE ISSUE OF PEACE MUST BE RESOLVED WITH ALL ACTORS

If the issue of peace is to be discussed, all actors are very important, but it is necessary to underline the importance of Demirtaş. You know what Bahçeli and Erdoğan have said to us and to the DEM Party. Let no one do such things for political concerns.

This visit is a visit with political significance. We will repair together what we could not do in the first century. We discussed all the country's problems with Demirtaş. We talked about justice, the economic crisis, and how to overcome them. We talked about the rule of law and the necessity of good governance.

I UNDERLINE THE IMPORTANCE OF MR. DEMİRTAŞ

We also saw that we are in agreement regarding the importance of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). There will be no decision in which the TBMM is not involved. I underline the importance of Mr. Demirtaş once again. Everyone is making calls to other actors; let them do so. What we want is for the right steps to be taken for the interests of Turkey. Rest assured that we will be in a position we can be proud of.

ASSESSMENT OF FETHULLAH GÜLEN

Responding to a question about FETÖ leader Fethullah Gülen, who passed away on October 20, Özel stated, ''The person who took the most sin to the other world is Fethullah Gülen. He will answer for it where he has gone. He left behind a massive capital and power.''

CALL TO NATIONALIZE HOSPITALS

Evaluating the 'Newborn Gang' scandal that has rocked Turkey's agenda, Özel called for the nationalization of the hospitals seized as part of the investigation, stating:

'Let us nationalize those hospitals, so that those who get rich by playing with a baby's life in their hospital can see what will happen to them when they do these things.''

RESPONDED TO THE ISTANBUL BAR ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT

Responding to the new president of the Istanbul Bar Association, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaboğlu, who made statements regarding the unchangeable articles of the Constitution and suggested that these articles could be changed in a positive sense, Özel said, 'His statement binds only himself. The first 4 articles of the Constitution are closed to debate.'
