Özgür Özel reacts to knife attack on Melih Meriç: Perpetrators must be punished

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement regarding the knife attack on Gaziantep MP Melih Meriç.

It was stated that Meriç was subjected to a knife attack by the former CHP Oğuzeli District Chairman Seydi Ahmet Keleş.

Sharing a post on his social media account, Özel stated, "I condemn the vile attack on our Gaziantep MP, my valued colleague Melih Meriç."

Özel stated that he was pleased to learn that Meriç's surgery was successful and that his health condition is good, and conveyed his get-well wishes to his family and colleagues.

Emphasizing that violence, threats, and bullying in politics are unacceptable, Özel said, "We expect the perpetrators to be punished as soon as possible." Özel also wished for Meriç to regain his health and return to their ranks as soon as possible.
