Özgür Özel reveals the vote gap between CHP and AKP: 'We are ahead in all polls'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the agenda during a television program he attended.

Answering questions from İsmail Küçükkaya on Halk TV, Özel shared the results of the general election poll on his desk during the live broadcast.

"WE ARE AHEAD IN ALL POLLS"

Emphasizing that they are ahead in all polls, Özel said, "According to the average of the polls, we are 6.7 points ahead of the AK Party." Özel stated that the average for the last month also yielded similar results.

REACTION TO FATİH ALTAYLI

Reacting to the arrest of journalist Fatih Altaylı on charges of threatening the president, Özel stated that Altaylı's remarks were misunderstood and emphasized his concern regarding judicial independence. Özel asked, "It is said that there is freedom of expression in Turkey, but where do Altaylı's words fit into this freedom?"

"ANYONE WHO CANNOT PROVE IT IS DISHONORABLE"

Özel also spoke about the allegations regarding the convention lawsuit filed against his party.

Stating, "The claim that 100 houses were given from KİPTAŞ is completely baseless. Anyone who cannot prove it is dishonorable," Özel said that such allegations were a conspiracy against his party.

REITERATED CALL FOR EARLY ELECTIONS

Reiterating his demands for early elections, Özel said, "We want an election to be held in November. However, we are against moving the elections forward just so Erdoğan can be a candidate." Özel emphasized that the CHP is always ready to bring the ballot box to the people.

STATEMENT ON MURAT ONGUN

Özel had visited Murat Ongun, the head of İBB Medya A.Ş., who is being held at the Karatepe Penal Institution in Çorlu.

Speaking on a question regarding Ongun's situation, Özel noted the following:

"Murat Ongun is doing quite well. That is how I saw him. His self-belief is high, his morale is high. He is a bit emotional. He says, 'Can there be this much injustice?' But at the same time, he is angry. Because he is reacting after seeing so much. He says, 'Of course, we will not surrender.' He is reacting to what is happening, saying, 'How can they do this? This must be held to account.' But on the other hand, everyone has children, a spouse. When the subject comes to them, he naturally becomes emotional in a way that we understand very well and that I am very saddened by."
