Özgür Özel sends a message from Silivri: Invites Erdoğan to a live broadcast

CHP leader Özgür Özel visited Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu in Silivri for the first time following the CHP's 39th Ordinary Congress held over the weekend. Along with İmamoğlu, Özel also met with imprisoned mayors and İBB employees.

Özel made statements in Silivri:

'The people here now have an expectation of justice. The indictment has finally been written. As I have always said, we were waiting for this indictment not to be tried, but to judge. We are facing an indictment from which Mr. Erdoğan has also stepped back.'

'I said it here 15 days ago. All the concrete evidence consists of secret witness testimonies. They arrested İmamoğlu with a secret witness, then they changed the name of the secret witness. It doesn't matter who is playing the scenario; you can change the actor. The testimony has nothing to do with the truth; it has to do with an order. If this person is real, does the event change, friends? Like changing a soap opera actor, these are no longer being said by Çınar, they are being said by İlke. Can such a thing happen? Who will come out and defend this? Come on, Mr. Erdoğan, let's come out and discuss this on a live broadcast.'

'The Chief Prosecutor has come out and is making a statement; soon he will be driving vehicles around too. It's free to try; pull the bus in front of Çağlayan, gather 100 thousand people like we do, and let me see. Who will believe the indictment? Our friends need to be tried without arrest as soon as possible.'

ÖZEL LASHES OUT AT ERDOĞAN OVER THE 'EXECUTIONER' DEBATE!

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the prisoners at Silivri Prison, including Presidential Candidate and İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Fatih Altaylı, before the rally to be held in Güngören.

Making statements to journalists after the visit, Özel responded harshly to Erdoğan's remarks about him.

"There is no political gain for Erdoğan here. You will make references to history, going back decades, a century ago. Did we say we founded the Republic? The Republican People's Party is right. Oh, there was a single party back then, all of our grandfathers were there. Good. There was a single party that saved Turkey, established democracy, and brought democracy. We were there, our grandfathers were there. Then you find a field of hostility from history and scratch it. CHP did it. Where was your grandfather? While making references to something that could create bitterness and hostility from history, where grandfathers stood shoulder to shoulder in Çanakkale, you say CHP did it alone. Where does this abundance of yogurt come from? You will try to do something by reminding the nation of 80, 90, 100 years ago," said Özel, continuing his reaction by recalling the Hendek Events:

"For example, you won't remember that 10 years ago, under your rule, Taybet Ana's body remained on the ground for 7 days, and that fire was opened on women who were going with white flags in their hands so that the body would not rot. Or you won't see that a deputy's mother's funeral was attacked with the claim that 'we will not keep this funeral here,' that burial was not allowed, and that the issue of not allowing the burial happened during your term, and that your ministers also managed this situation and remained silent. Doesn't the nation know what happened during your term?"

"A SON OF THE HOMELAND HAS BEEN LYING IN EDIRNE FOR 9 YEARS"

Stating that former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş has been in prison for years because he said 'we will not make you president,' Özel said, "A son of the homeland has been going and lying there in Edirne for 9 years. What is his crime? He told you, 'we will not make you president'," and continued as follows:

"I never enter into the middle of any party or any of its actors, I never say that to its actors, I never do such a thing, I haven't done it, I'm not doing it, but those who change the devil in the regime, those who change the actor in the interlocutor, the nation sees and knows this insincerity. The periods of oppression, persecutions, and the issue of creating loyalty through this oppression that I mentioned there create a mood disorder in a significant amount of opposition voters in Turkey today. Since they already know that this is true, Erdoğan has come out today and is trying to do something, to reap something from it."

"You will keep the two co-chairs of a political party in prison for 9 years until today, Ms. Figen and Selahattin Demirtaş, and then you will still not implement the decisions. Trustees are still managing, not those elected by the Kurds. Then, sir, you will make descriptions of executioners for the CHP and so on. We ended that and the other debate yesterday all together. There is no political gain for Mr. Tayyip here, but if he tries to extract gain from here, he will be politically very hungry. Those periods have passed."

"WE ARE STANDING WHERE WE NEED TO STAND"

Responding to criticisms regarding his party not being included in the commission delegation that visited the terrorist organization leader Öcalan, Özel said, "The Republican People's Party has made its own decision, friends. Everyone should defend their own decision. The nation makes the decision in the end."

"I value the peace process, I value negotiation, I value the commission, I value the resolution of this matter, Mr. Bahçeli's expectation of a terror-free Turkey, the Republican People's Party's struggle for a terror-free and democratic Turkey, and the inclusion of the name of democracy in the commission, friends," said the CHP Chairman, adding, "I value them all and I am showing courage. We are standing where we need to stand," he said.
