Özgür Özel to also establish a backup party: NEW Party movement within CHP

CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel and over 90 CHP deputies are expected to resign from the party today and join the NEW Party. It is stated that the resignations will be announced at 10:00 AM via a video to be shared on Özel's X account.

Following the deputies' resignations, Gül Çiftçi and Murat Emir are planned to submit the NEW Party's establishment petition to the Ministry of Interior. It was reported that some deputies who will join the NEW Party have already begun removing CHP references from their social media accounts ahead of the application.

Following the submission of the petition, Özel is expected to attend Friday prayers at the Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Mosque. This step is interpreted as a reference to the Friday prayers performed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at the same mosque before beginning the Parliament's proceedings on April 23, 1920.

The NEW Party Founders' Board is expected to meet at 2:00 PM at the Anadolu Club under the chairmanship of Özgür Özel. At the first meeting, the chairman and party organs are expected to be determined, followed by the election of the parliamentary leadership.

THERE IS ALSO A BACKUP PARTY 

It is stated that during the establishment process, there is also a preparation for a "backup party" alongside the NEW Party. It is reported that a second party will be established under the name Change Party (Değişim Partisi) against the possibility of a snap election.
