Recent developments at Boğaziçi University continue to remain a prominent topic in the public eye. In particular, the intense security measures taken at the university last week during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit, as well as the detention of students, had sparked controversy.

Following these discussions, main opposition leader Özgür Özel visited the campus today to support the ongoing academic vigil at Boğaziçi University. Özel, who arrived at the university at 12:00, was accompanied by a delegation from his party.

It was learned that security measures around the campus had been increased and that only the CHP delegation was granted entry at the campus gate.

While members of the press were not allowed inside the campus, it was reported that Özgür Özel would make a statement to the journalists waiting outside after his visit.

Academics working at Boğaziçi University have been holding a vigil for a long time to express their concerns regarding rector appointments and university autonomy.
