With the new judicial package, an opportunity for release is being offered to 50,000 inmates in Turkey. Notable statements came from MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız regarding the regulation made for the execution of inmates' sentences.
EXECUTION LAW REGULATION
Feti Yıldız evaluated the changes brought by the 10th Provisional Article of the Execution Law. This article had provided the opportunity for early transition from closed prisons to open prisons and to benefit from probation. However, Yıldız stated that taking the date of the finalization of the verdict into account instead of the date of the crime created a major inequality.
'INEQUALITY HAS BEEN RESOLVED'
MHP's Yıldız used the following expressions in his statement: "Taking the date of the finalization of the verdict as the basis instead of the date of the crime had caused a great inequality regarding conviction decisions. This inequality is now being resolved with the regulation. What needs to be done now is to completely eliminate this inequality and ensure the rights of the inmates are delivered."
