Penalty for abusive chants against Leyla Zana announced

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Nuri Bak made important statements regarding the incidents that occurred during the Somaspor - Bursaspor match in his speech at the Parliament. Emphasizing that the abusive chants directed at former HDP Diyarbakır MP Leyla Zana from the Bursa stands during the match were unacceptable, Minister Bak stated that such incidents are contrary to the spirit of sports.

Minister Bak said, "We, along with the Turkish Football Federation, are investigating this incident that took place in the stands, which we cannot accept in any way. According to Law No. 6222, there will be a process for those who committed that act in the stands, ranging from a ban from matches to other measures. We are completely against any actions that prevent sports from being conducted in a gentlemanly manner. Law No. 6222 was enacted for this very reason. Regardless of who it is, such incidents cannot be condoned. It is a process that does not befit the ethical spirit of sports or the spirit of fair play. We cannot accept it."

Within the scope of the investigation jointly conducted by the Ministry and the Turkish Football Federation, it was stated that individuals who engaged in such behavior in the stands would be identified and punished. Minister Bak expressed that sports should be conducted in accordance with the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.
