AKP İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Hamza Dağ completed the voting process at Şehit Nazımbey Primary School in İzmir's Bayraklı district after his wife and daughter went into the booth.
Making statements at the ballot box, Dağ said that they had an exciting and pleasant campaign period in İzmir that did not lower the level of respect, was not destructive toward one another, and was constructive; he added that, as they promised, they did not engage in petty polemics and only talked about their projects.
Stating that they were experiencing the best of democracy's tests, Dağ said, "I hope we have a peaceful election period and day. I believe that with the result that will emerge this evening, our 4.5 million fellow citizens in İzmir will win. No one will lose. It will be a period where everyone wins, and starting tomorrow, a very beautiful service process will begin with our 30 districts, our metropolitan municipality, and our neighborhood heads (muhtars)."
After casting his vote, Dağ made a statement to journalists in front of the school, noting that they wished for a peaceful and beautiful election atmosphere throughout the day.
Emphasizing that they desired a peaceful election day, Dağ said, "We are receiving news from all over Turkey that it has gone very well so far. We desire a peaceful election day both in our İzmir and in Turkey after the ballot boxes start opening. We call on all our citizens and fellow residents to show sensitivity in this regard. Our peace is more important than anything else. Therefore, everyone should show sensitivity in this sense."
