Pervin Buldan reveals demand from PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan

Pervin Buldan, a member of the Imralı delegation of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), has shared details regarding her recent visit to Imralı and the assessments of terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan concerning the process. Buldan stated that Öcalan has requested to be granted the right to speak before the press and give interviews to journalists.

While expectations regarding the recently prepared commission report continue, the thoughts of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in Imralı, on this process have begun to gain clarity. In an interview where she shared the details of the meetings, Buldan emphasized that Öcalan is in good spirits and is making efforts for the resolution process.

HE COMMUNICATES HIS AGENDA IN DRAFT FORM

Stating that the meetings are conducted with a serious and pre-planned agenda, Buldan said, "Mr. Öcalan prepares a well-thought-out agenda for every meeting and shares it with us at the beginning of the session."

Buldan also noted that there has been no improvement in prison conditions for Öcalan, stating, "Apart from the monthly meetings with the Imralı delegation, contacts are occasionally made with his family and lawyers, but both he and we believe that this communication needs to increase. We believe that granting him the right to meet directly with journalists and academics would positively affect the process."

CRITICISM OF INTEGRATION AND THE REPORT

The DEM Party Imralı delegation member also explained Öcalan's views on how democratic integration should be achieved. Stating that from Öcalan's perspective, integration is not integration in the classical sense, Buldan drew attention to the importance of a formula in which the Kurdish people's mother tongue and cultural rights are guaranteed. She also underscored that the integration of those who have laid down arms or are abroad for various reasons must be supported by new legislative regulations.

Expressing that the report is valuable but remains incomplete on some important issues, Buldan stated that they do not find it correct to define the Kurdish issue as a "terror problem" and noted that they have expressed that the necessary sensitivity was not shown in the report, particularly regarding the mother tongue.

REQUEST TO MEET WITH JOURNALISTS IS ON THE AGENDA

The request of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan to meet directly with journalists was also among the main topics discussed in the meeting. Buldan conveyed Öcalan's perspective with the words: "There was even a request for him to answer questions sent by a few journalists. When we conveyed this, he said he did not find such a method correct. He said, 'The main issue is stuck a bit here. I mean, I have a request to conduct an interview with members of the press, to hold a press conference. I believe I have such a right.'"

There has been no response yet to the applications made by journalists to the Ministry of Justice. It has been learned that the DEM Party delegation will continue its initiatives to ensure developments on this matter in the coming period.

Stating that a summary of the meeting to be announced to the public will be prepared and that they will work to share more information, Buldan said, "Instead of short statements, we will now make a statement that presents a summary of the meetings. Because short statements do not satisfy the public. People have great expectations. What is being discussed, what is coming to the agenda? What is Mr. Öcalan's approach to the issues and events within the one-month period? People have question marks in their minds about many issues. The text we publish can be read as the general framework of the meeting we held with Mr. Öcalan."

It was noted that the DEM Party will continue its initiatives in the coming days, primarily regarding legislative preparations and the opening of communication channels, while the process remains uncertain.
