PKK announces decision to dissolve and lay down arms! First statement from AKP

The PKK has announced its congress decisions, declaring that the organization is being dissolved and that it is ending its armed struggle. AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik evaluated the development as an "important stage in terms of the goal of a Turkey without terrorism."

Announcing the decisions of the congress held between May 5-7, the PKK declared that its organizational structure is being dissolved and that its method of armed struggle is being brought to an end.

Following the PKK's announcement of its self-dissolution, a statement came from AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik. Çelik said, "Following the call made from İmralı, the PKK's decision to dissolve itself and lay down its arms is an important stage in terms of the 'Turkey without terrorism' goal."

 

The full text of the statement made by Ömer Çelik on his social media account is as follows:

"The high political will demonstrated by our President for a 'Turkey without terrorism' and his inclusive and clear approach, which draws the coordinates of the process as 'state policy,' along with Mr. Devlet Bahçeli's historic call, his stance toward developments, and his guidance, have formed the headings for strengthening the 'internal front' as a whole.

The effective and productive traffic of meetings, consultations, and dialogue between political parties has ensured that democratic politics takes responsibility and generates initiatives as the 'legitimate address.'

Following the call made from İmralı, the PKK's decision to dissolve itself and lay down its arms is an important stage in terms of the 'Turkey without terrorism' goal. If terrorism ends completely, the door to a new era will be opened.

This decision must be implemented in practice and realized in all its dimensions. The realization of the 'dissolution' and 'surrender of arms' decision, concretely and completely, in a way that covers all branches, extensions, and illegal structures of the PKK, will be a turning point.

This process will be meticulously followed on the ground by our state institutions. The stages reached will be presented to our President.

In this framework, the terrorist organization's decision to dissolve and lay down arms must be realized concretely and in all its dimensions, both 'inside' and 'outside.' Thus, a positive wave will be created toward cutting off the path of imperialist plans in our near region, where terrorist organizations are used for proxy wars.

Furthermore, reaching the 'Turkey without terrorism' goal concretely will allow Turkey to operate all political channels more effectively at a time when politics worldwide is being drowned in depoliticization, and it will further strengthen our democracy, our political life, and our national unity. It will ensure that political dialogue channels work in the strongest way at all legitimate addresses of politics, primarily the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The awareness that our Republic is the 'roof' for all of us, and the understanding that our democracy is the fundamental 'ground' for the solution of all kinds of problems, will be strengthened and will take root politically. With the consciousness of shared history, shared destiny, and citizenship, our future will continue to be shaped on the most solid and legitimate grounds. Every positive stage will be an invitation to a new positive stage.

'Turkey without terrorism' must be reached on the ground with all its dimensions, completely and with concrete goals. Reaching this means that all our citizens, with all their cultural, ethnic, and sectarian elements, will win. The winners will be all our citizens. Our fundamental principle is this: EVEN IF OUR NAMES ARE DIFFERENT, THE SURNAME OF ALL OF US IS THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY.

There is no debate regarding the 'qualities of our state' and the 'values of our nation'; there is no step that will damage these values, nor can there be. One of the foremost of the great strategic steps that will embrace the Century of Turkey announced by our President will be a 'Turkey without terrorism.'
