PKK lays down arms, Bahçeli emphasizes 'national consensus'! 'The arrow has left the bow, there is no turning back'

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli stated, "The chain of developments—which broke its shell with the February 27 Imralı call, which relies on the PYD/YPG's acceptance of handing over weapons to the Syrian Arab Republic and integrating into the new administration's institutions via a memorandum of understanding on March 10, and which confirmed the PKK's disarmament and dissolution process on May 12—are very auspicious steps for Turkey and the countries of the region. The arrow has left the bow. There is no turning back. Any action, plot, trap, black propaganda, or agitation contrary to this will expose and circulate dire consequences." he declared.

Bahçeli said, "Peace is not a single-winged bird. Moreover, it is impossible to take flight with one wing. Attaching the second wing and ensuring flight depends on the self-sacrifice, self-confidence, magnanimity, fortitude, prayers, and ownership of our entire nation." he added. 

Bahçeli continued, "With the separatist terrorist organization PKK announcing its decision to lay down arms and dissolve its organization on May 12, 2025, we have entered a new phase that is sensitive, delicate, fragile, and requires as much patience. No opportunity should be given to the provocation and reinforcement of an environment of incitement, nor to sensitivities and misunderstandings that may arise from trivial reasons." he said.

Bahçeli stated, "It is of vital value and importance that everyone uses responsible language, avoids falling into the traps of polemics that lead to an abyss, does not give credence to political and ideological interest calculations, and does not deviate from the path of common sense and sound judgment." he used the expressions. 

Bahçeli's statement is as follows:

 

"If looked at correctly, if read and understood carefully, the historical experiences that seep and filter through the crevices of the collection of lived lives and events will illuminate the dark points of the future just like a lighthouse.

 

Of course, time flows forward, not backward.

 

However, the necessary condition for mastering and comprehending the secret of the future and progress is to fully grasp the difficult, complicated, and arduous paths left behind by walking step by step."

 

Societies that have succeeded in becoming a nation have not only managed to survive during the stormy periods of history, but have also known how to bring their virtues of reason, morality, courage, and nobility to light through collective effort during processes of harsh and intense struggle.

 

There is no doubt that nationhood is the most civilized level of humanity.

 

Proposals for a communal society by those who are unaware of this high democratic and advanced human status are merely a stale suggestion and a vulgar admonition of imperialism.

 

With this at the center, the Turkish nation will never fall behind history, and it will not be defined, limited, or differentiated as a forced alliance of ethnic remnants or a fragmented social structure divided into tribes.

 

Discussing and keeping on the agenda proposals for social systems outside of the state and nation, and taking the proponents of these suggestions seriously, is nothing more than the final threshold of absurdity and irrationality.

 

Our Turkey, through capable administration and will, has parted the thick curtain of a future without terrorism, taken a position to break the narrowing circle of hostility, and has entered a phase that is completely opposed and closed to influences that disrupt national unity and solidarity, contingent upon the participation and support of all segments.

 

With the separatist terrorist organization PKK announcing its decision to lay down arms and dissolve its organization on May 12, 2025, a new phase that is sensitive, delicate, fragile, and equally demanding of patience has begun.

 

No opportunity should be given to the provocation and reinforcement of an environment of incitement, nor to sensitivities and misunderstandings that might arise from trivial reasons.

 

It is of vital value and importance that everyone uses responsible language, avoids falling into the traps of polemics that lead to an abyss, does not give credence to political and ideological self-interest, and does not deviate from the path of common sense and sound judgment.

 

Getting angry at a priest and breaking one's fast is not something that exists in our faith and belief.

 

While the Republic of Turkey defends its legitimate, legal, and sovereign existence to the end, it has never engaged in negotiations or truces with terrorism, and it will not do so in the future.

 

A realistic, advanced, and comprehensive peace is built between hearts and minds.

 

Peace is not a single-winged bird.

 

Moreover, it is impossible to take flight with a single wing.

 

Ensuring flight by attaching the second wing depends on the self-sacrifice, self-confidence, magnanimity, fortitude, prayers, and ownership of our entire nation.

 

The Turkish nation has welcomed and embraced the goal of a Turkey without terrorism and the solid steps taken, from the east to the west, from the north to the south, with joy.

 

In this process we have reached, Turkey will no longer be a country associated with terrorism or etched in memory with sorrowful headlines.

 

A Turkey without terrorism is a Turkey that is inclusive and embracing, where equal rights and obligations based on the rule of law prevail, and which has strengthened its democracy and increased its economic prosperity.

 

The long-term, lasting success of this aforementioned goal requires the construction of a 'Turkey without terrorism' strategy in line with national objectives through a broad social consensus.

 

In this context, the most logical option to determine the roadmap for the coming period is to establish a commission in the TBMM, the manifestation of the national will, with the participation of political parties representing all segments of society, in accordance with constitutional duties, powers, and responsibilities.

 

It is our sincere proposal and wish that a 'New Century's Strategy for a Turkey Without Terrorism; National Unity and Solidarity Commission' be established upon the call of the Speaker of the TBMM, in accordance with parliamentary traditions.

 

First and foremost, in order to ensure that the commission's work is conducted with broad participation and transparency, the commission should consist of 100 members, including representatives from the 16 political parties represented in the Veteran Parliament, and sub-commissions should be established according to working conditions.

 

Secondly, every political party represented in the TBMM should be represented by at least one member, and the other members should be determined according to the representation ratios of the parties with parliamentary groups.

 

Thirdly, every political party represented in the TBMM should be able to appoint two experts in their fields to work in the commission.

 

Fourth, the commission should determine its own working procedures and principles.

 

Fifth, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey should chair the commission.

 

Sixth, decisions in the commission should be taken by a simple majority.

 

Seventh, the decisions taken by the commission should be drafted as proposals by members of parliament and submitted to the relevant specialized committees and the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

 

In a period where regional and global developments are gaining momentum, and the political, economic, and diplomatic relations are constantly manifesting different faces and directions, it is a monumental event for our Turkey to build a new century without terrorism, without intermediaries or external ties, and solely through its own means.

 

Most importantly, our Turkey is the address for resolving conflicts between countries, a reliable center for diplomatic maneuvers and levers of dialogue, and the rising axis of desires for peace and tranquility.

 

While the birth pangs of a new world are intensifying day by day due to the devastating blows received by the international established order, strengthening our internal front and environment of peace in accordance with the measures of justice, fairness, and equity is a debt of loyalty we owe to history, our ancestors, and future generations.

 

This debt will certainly be paid, and the Republic of Turkey will tear the scourge of separatist terrorism out of its agenda.

 

The status quo has lost, conventional wisdom has been shattered, and taboos have been toppled one by one.

 

The chain of developments—starting with the February 27 İmralı call that broke the shell, the March 10 agreement where the PYD/YPG accepted the surrender of weapons to the Syrian Arab Republic and integration into the new administration's institutions via a memorandum of understanding, and the May 12 confirmation of the PKK's disarmament and dissolution—are very auspicious steps for Turkey and the countries of the region.

 

The arrow has left the bow.

 

There is no turning back.

 

Any action, plot, trap, black propaganda, or agitation contrary to this will expose and circulate grave consequences.

 

Turkey belongs to us all.

 

The Turkish nation is a great and powerful family.

 

Our late thinker Ziya Gökalp once wrote:

 

"Turks and Kurds have always rushed to jihad together to protect our cherished homeland from the enemy and our sacred religion from corruption."

 

He also stated the following:

 

"The fact that our National Pact (Misak-ı Milli) gives the same value and importance to Turks and Kurds shows that the bonds of loyalty and ties of allegiance between Turks and Kurds possess a sincerity beyond any description."

 

For a thousand years, we have been one, together, and brothers.

 

We are all together the Turkish nation.

 

No imperialist conspiracy, no foreign scenario or game, no lie or rumor will be able to come between us, and they will not be able to waste or squander the eternal friendship and brotherhood that meets under the plane tree of the nation.

 

It is an indisputable historical fact that the clear and known motivation for Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha's arrival in Samsun on May 19, 1919, was the unparalleled admiration, respect, and dignified commitment of the entire Turkish nation to its independence.

 

The steamship, which departed from the Galata Pier on Friday afternoon, May 16, 1919, at 16:30 with 79 passengers—one woman and three children—six horses, and one automobile, reached Samsun on the morning of May 19, 1919, after a three-day journey.

 

The first step taken in Samsun was the aim of building a new Turkish state from the broken ruins of our proud Empire, which had been destroyed, fragmented, and occupied during the world war it entered.

 

The Bandırma Ferry had carried the ideals of the Republic of Turkey.

 

I wish to record and state clearly that the May 19th initiative was the rising of the Turkish state consciousness that had concentrated and emerged until that day, its transition from potential to action, and its shaking off of the dead soil upon it.

 

Indeed, May 19, 1919, is a magnificent capacity for resistance that the Turkish state had formed and matured over centuries.

 

The occupation and invasion by hostile and occupying elements could not be watched blindly, nor could it be observed in a helpless and cowardly state.

 

The high-level state officials of the Ottoman Empire possessed a mind, an understanding, and a deep accumulation of knowledge that translated the silent cry of the collective conscience, grasping beyond the horizon to face disasters, preventing captivity and colonization, and risking their lives to preserve the survival of the beloved national existence.

 

Consequently, solutions were sought, projects were prepared, and in this process, patriotic and nation-loving commanders and politicians serving at every level of the state undertook duties.

 

The May 19th move is, in short, the dazzling strategic move of the Turkish state.

 

To contemplate the founding of a new Turkish state even during a process of destruction, and to bring this to life by resisting force and tyranny, is essentially the timeless certificate of success of the Turkish nation.

 

May 19, 1919, is the incubator of October 29, 1923.

 

The end for those who do not take lessons from history is a dire fate.

 

The incessant spreading of heroics and malice by those who do not comprehend May 19, 1919, and the nonsense of those self-proclaimed geniuses who announce they will land in Samsun again, actually stems from their fear of a Turkey without terrorism and their realization that they will not be able to find a place for themselves and their petty politics.

 

However, fear is of no use against destiny.

 

May 19 is the upright stance of national honor against oppression, and an honorable attitude that rejects compromise and surrender.

 

May 19 is not a decision of momentary impulses or a narrow cadre, but the Turkish state's wisdom being put into action by Mustafa Kemal Pasha and his comrades.

 

The national revival displayed yesterday to save the homeland is today manifesting the will that will carry us into the Century of Turkey.

 

Considering the crises our country has faced, I have no doubt that our noble nation will support the historical and national consensus shaped on the foundation of the People's Alliance to the very end.

 

The 106-year period from 1919 to 2025 is witnessing the reawakening of history and the rise of the great Turkish nation.

 

The independence and future of the Turkish nation will be protected at the cost of our lives.

 

No matter what anyone does, or what dirty and dark schemes they may be involved in, no one will have the power or the breath to weaken the Republic of Turkey.

 

The consciousness of May 19th is as alive as it was in the past, and the will that landed in Samsun is still present in the field.

 

The strength we need is hidden in the blood flowing through our veins.

 

With these thoughts, on the 106th anniversary of May 19, 1919, I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our heroes of the National Struggle, and our dear martyrs with gratitude, appreciation, and mercy, and I bow with respect before their esteemed memories.

 

I wholeheartedly celebrate the May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day for the Turkish youth and the Turkish nation.
