Police investigation at Ankara Police Department spreads to IYI Party!
IYI Party Antalya Deputy Ugur Poyraz has filed a criminal complaint against the police chiefs currently under investigation. Poyraz alleged that the chiefs had collected illegal information on politicians, including himself.

Following developments in the investigation into organized crime leader Ayhan Bora Kaplan, three police chiefs have been suspended in line with a report by Chief Civil Inspectors.
By order of the prosecutor's office, searches were conducted at the residences of Ankara Deputy Police Chief Murat Celik, Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Manager Kerem Oner, and his deputy Sevket Demircan.
It was learned that the investigation, which led to the home searches of the three police chiefs, was carried out regarding crimes including "agreement to commit a crime" under Article 316 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) titled rebellion against the Government of the Republic of Turkey, "disclosure of information related to duty" under TCK Article 258, "attempt to influence judicial officers, experts, or witnesses" under TCK Article 277, "aiding and abetting a criminal" under TCK Article 283, "violation of confidentiality" under TCK Article 285, and crimes against the functioning of the constitutional order.
Allegations that the three police chiefs under investigation had engaged in activities against certain political figures had also previously come to the agenda.
According to the report on ODA TV: IYI Party Antalya Deputy Ugur Poyraz, who is alleged to be one of those individuals and who has brought the issue to the parliamentary agenda, has filed a criminal complaint through his lawyer.
Poyraz alleged in the criminal complaint that the aforementioned chiefs had collected information illegally by conducting technical and physical surveillance on him, including wiretapping his phone.
The criminal complaint, which noted that these individuals accessed information within the scope of personal data protected by law, included the following statements:
"For the reasons explained above; I request that an investigation be conducted into whether any wiretapping or surveillance was carried out on my client within the last 12 months by the Ankara Police Department or other units of the General Directorate of Security, within the scope of CMK 135 and 140, and the Additional Article 7 of the Law on Police Duties and Powers; and furthermore, that an indictment be prepared for the punishment of the units and individuals who performed these actions, by investigating all data stored for criminal investigation purposes—including phone records, phone base station records, communications made via social media tools over IP, phone IMEI, national ID, address, MERNIS records, accommodation, all types of registered payments, travel, fuel purchases, license plate recognition systems, MOBESE, etc.—in accordance with the aforementioned allegations."
