Political party membership numbers announced

While the AKP, CHP, MHP, Victory Party (Zafer Partisi), New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi), DEM Party, TİP, and HÜDA PAR increased their membership numbers, it was noted that the former partners of the Six-Party Table—the IYI Party, DEVA, Future Party (Gelecek), Felicity Party (Saadet), and Democrat Party—experienced membership losses. The minor partners of the People's Alliance, the BBP and DSP, also saw a decline in membership.

12punto contributor Dr. Şenol Çarık reported that, according to the announced figures, the membership of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) increased by 93,842 in 2024, rising from 11 million 41,464 to 11 million 135,306.

The membership of the Republican People's Party (CHP), which stood at 1 million 428,800 at the beginning of 2024, increased by 103,144 to 1 million 531,944.

The MHP's membership rose from 486,896 to 495,447, and the DEM Party's from 10,353 to 14,741.

THE PARTY THAT INCREASED ITS MEMBERSHIP THE MOST

The party that increased its membership the most was the New Welfare Party, led by Fatih Erbakan. The party increased its membership, which was 365,767, by 257,000 to reach 622,847.

The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), led by Erkan Baş and represented by 3 deputies in parliament, only increased its membership by 800, reaching 44,072.

A decrease in membership was observed in the BBP, one of the minor partners of the People's Alliance. Its membership, which was 112,277, fell to 111,007. HÜDA PAR's membership rose from 13,741 to 14,858. In the DSP, led by Önder Aksakal, another minor partner, the number of members decreased, falling from 25,570 to 24,230.

SIX-PARTY TABLE PARTNERS SUFFERED LOSSES

It was noted that, with the exception of the CHP, the parties forming the Six-Party Table experienced membership losses.

The sharpest decline was seen in the IYI Party. Following the congress held after Meral Akşener stepped down as chair, where Müsavat Dervişoğlu took the seat, the IYI Party's membership, which was 508,578, fell by 96,000 to 412,744.

Another party with a declining membership was the Felicity Party (Saadet). Following the congress held after Temel Karamollaoğlu stepped down as chair, where Mahmut Arıkan came to leadership, the Felicity Party's membership fell from 243,312 to 232,928, losing 10,000 members in one year. A decrease in membership was also observed in the DEVA Party, led by Ali Babacan, which has been shaken by resignations. Its membership, which was 146,820, fell by 8,000 in one year to 134,025. The Future Party (Gelecek), founded 5 years ago under the leadership of Ahmet Davutoğlu, also lost 6,000 members, falling from 70,451 to 64,389. The Democrat Party, led by Gültekin Uysal—whose number of deputies in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey fell to 1 following the resignations of Cemal Enginyurt and Salih Uzun—also experienced membership losses. The party's membership, which was 342,256, fell to 326,054.

The membership of the Labor Party (EMEP), an alliance partner of the DEM Party which is represented by 2 deputies in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, fell from 5,165 to 5,004. The membership of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), which is a proxy for the DEM Party and has 2 deputies, fell from 7,002 to 6,691.

MAJOR RISE IN THE VICTORY PARTY

The Victory Party (Zafer Partisi), led by Ümit Özdağ, which is outside the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and received 2.5 percent of the vote in the last elections, achieved a major increase by nearly doubling its membership. The party's membership rose from 43,515 to 71,732.

The Homeland Party (Memleket Partisi), chaired by Muharrem İnce, is losing strength. The party's membership fell from 66,738 to 55,554.

The Patriotic Party (Vatan Partisi), led by Doğu Perinçek, also experienced a membership loss, falling from 13,955 to 13,323.

The Independent Turkey Party (BTP), chaired by Hüseyin Baş, increased its membership from 12,162 to 14,129.

The HDP's membership fell from 19,855 to 14,539.

It was noted that the Turkey Alliance Party (Türkiye İttifakı Partisi), led by Sinan Oğan, increased its membership from 5,397 to 9,060.

It was also noted that the membership of the Local and National Party (Yerli ve Milli Parti), founded under the leadership of Teoman Mutlu by those who left Mustafa Sarıgül's former party, the Turkey Change Party (Türkiye Değişim Partisi), and Abdürrahim Karslı's former party, the Center Party (Merkez Parti), increased approximately fourfold from 10,229 to 38,118.

Another notable increase was seen in the Innovation Party (Yenilik Partisi) of former CHP deputy Öztürk Yılmaz. The party's membership, which was 3,363, rose to 7,888.

While the TKP fell from 7,846 to 7,208, the Left Party (Sol Parti) rose from 5,764 to 5,894.

The membership of the People's Liberation Party (HKP) fell from 1,016 to 985, the TKH from 1,179 to 887, the SCP from 876 to 779, the TSİP from 155 to 146, and the HAK-PAR from 1,604 to 1,593.

Ayhan Bilgen's Voice Party (SES Partisi) rose from 1,252 to 1,527. The membership of the LDP, of which Cem Toker was the former leader, fell from 3,601 to 3,492.

The membership of the Homeland Party (Yurt Partisi), led by Sadettin Tantan, fell from 210 to 192.

The ANAP fell from 24,240 to 23,661, the Justice Party (Adalet Partisi), which entered the election as the Ata Alliance together with the Victory Party, fell from 5,546 to 5,316, the True Party (Doğru Parti) founded by Rifat Serdaroğlu rose from 1,278 to 1,661, and the Center Right Party (Merkez Sağ Parti), which is stated to have been founded by Tansu Çiller, rose from 968 to 3,882.

Cem Uzan's party, the Young Party (Genç Parti), rose from 23,466 to 26,037, the National Path Party (Milli Yol Partisi), led by Remzi Çayır and founded by those who left the BBP, rose from 4,618 to 5,701, the DYP rose from 2,915 to 4,193, and the Nation Party (Millet Partisi), of which Aykut Edibali was the intellectual leader, rose from 4,536 to 4,559.

MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS OF NEW PARTIES ANNOUNCED

Among the newly founded parties, the membership of the Key Party (Anahtar Parti), newly founded under the leadership of Yavuz Ağıralioğlu, was 44; the Blessed Party (Kutlu Parti), chaired by Yusuf Halaçoğlu, was 503; and the Ata Party, led by Namık Kemal Zeybek, was 259.
