It has been stated that the CHP leadership has placed the balance of power in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council on its agenda in response to a potential political ban decision against the detained IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in the "insult case" currently at the Court of Cassation stage. According to a report by Berat Temiz from the pro-government newspaper Türkiye Gazetesi, the party leadership is preparing for the possibility of a mayoral election that could be held in the IMM Council should such a decision be finalized.

In this context, separate meetings are planned with CHP members of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council. It is reported that in the meetings, which are said to be organized under the instruction of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the party's stance will be clearly explained to the council members. It was learned that the message "choose your side" will be given to CHP council members during these meetings.

SARI TO MEET WITH IMM DEPUTY MAYOR ASLAN

CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı is expected to meet with CHP council members from Istanbul's three electoral districts at the CHP İstanbul Provincial Headquarters on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

It is stated that Sarı will also hold a face-to-face meeting with IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan before the meetings.

COUNCIL ARITHMETIC IN THE IMM

In the IMM Council, the CHP has 155 members, while the AKP has 136. However, the fact that some individuals elected from CHP lists who are said to be close to the DEM Party are also part of the CHP group makes the balance of power critical in a potential election.

"HE HAS TO COOPERATE WITH US"

In CHP corridors, while it is emphasized that Nuri Aslan is the current CHP deputy mayor, it was reported that party strategists commented, "Mr. Nuri is currently the Deputy Mayor in the CHP. He cannot say, 'The IMM will be lost, leave us alone.' In this situation, he has to cooperate with us."
