Preparations have begun: Support for IYI Party from YRP, Gelecek, and Saadet!

As the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for the new legislative year on October 1 approaches, IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu has brought the long-debated political ethics law back to the agenda. Dervişoğlu stated, "Turkey is in dire need of a serious political ethics law. The transfer of members of parliament began with the defections to the Republican People's Party (CHP). I warned the esteemed officials of the CHP. I explained that these moves are managed from a single center, that the door is being kept open to legitimize future defections to the AKP in the long run, and that there is a danger of this spreading to mayors and municipal council members. I can say that I am deeply saddened to be proven right today." he said.

PREPARATIONS HAVE BEGUN AT IYI PARTY

According to ANKA,Hakan Şeref Olgun, IYI Party Deputy Chairman for Legal and Election Affairs, who provided information regarding the work initiated within the party, stated that they have begun drafting the political ethics law under the Chairman's instructions. Olgun noted that they would also contribute to the proposals of other opposition parties when the bill reaches the parliamentary agenda, and expressed that they expect support from all political parties.

"TRUST IN POLITICS IS AT AN ALL-TIME LOW"

Stating that the political institution in Turkey is deadlocked, Olgun expressed that citizens' trust in politicians has been deeply damaged. Olgun said the following:

"Both our Chairman and we are working on this issue. Hopefully, we will bring this to the parliamentary agenda soon. At the very least, a regulation is needed to ensure that politics remains clean and that the entire community and political institution are not corrupted because of certain individuals engaged in politics. We believe that this must absolutely receive the support of all political parties in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey."

I believe that the majority of deputies are uncomfortable with this political environment. Steps must be taken as soon as possible. Before the upcoming elections, a law must be enacted that regulates all aspects of politics—from party switching to the commercial lives and moral conduct of politicians—so that citizens' trust in the political institution can rise again. Just as the rule of law is currently being trampled upon, trust in politics is also at rock bottom. This must be intervened in the same way."

YRP: "TURKEY IS IN NEED OF A POLITICAL ETHICS LAW"

Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chairman Suat Kılıç also drew attention to the importance of the regulation, emphasizing that it would play a vital role in transparency in public and local administrations. Kılıç said, "Turkey is definitely in need of a political ethics law. There is no room for hesitation on this matter. It has been brought to the agenda in the past, but the steps taken have always been thwarted. Turkey must have a political ethics law in both public administration and municipalities. Tenders must be made transparent according to this political ethics law, and it should cover zoning practices. Even the scale and framework of gifts to be received should be limited by a political ethics law. We can mention many such headings."

Kılıç also stated that they would provide full support with their four deputies for any steps taken in this direction by any party group in the TBMM, reiterating his call with the words, "Turkey is absolutely in need of a political ethics law."

SAADET PARTY: "IT SHOULD BE ON THE AGENDA BEFORE THE CONSTITUTION"

Saadet Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Yılmaz argued that accountability has disappeared following the Presidential Government System and emphasized the urgent need for regulation. Yılmaz said, "One of the most important problems of our country right now is, unfortunately, the issue of political morality. Especially with the Presidential Government System, transparency, auditability, and accountability in state administration have been eliminated. While the rule of law should prevail, the law of the powerful has become dominant. At this point, a political morality law is inevitable for our country."

Stating that the political morality law should be addressed before constitutional amendments in the new legislative term, Yılmaz said, "As the Saadet Party, we invite the Parliament to urgently enact the political morality law in the new legislative year. The Saadet Party will provide all kinds of support and contribution to every step taken on this issue."

FUTURE PARTY: "THE POLITICAL ETHICS LAW IS DAVUTOGLU'S LEGACY"

Future Party Deputy Chairman Ufuk Karcı reminded that the political ethics law is one of the issues their Chairman, Ahmet Davutoğlu, attaches the most importance to. Karcı stated that Davutoğlu made intense efforts for this law during his time as prime minister, but President Erdoğan opposed it, saying, "The second reason was the EU integration process, and one of the fundamental provisions of the EU was the implementation of a political ethics law. Ahmet Davutoğlu fought hard for this. However, at that time, President Mr. Erdoğan responded by saying, 'You won't be able to find district heads to take office in the party in this direction.'"

Karcı emphasized that the lack of this law lies at the root of many corruption investigations and unexplained wealth cases experienced today, concluding his speech by saying, "The political ethics law is very important and is the ideal of the Future Party. We support this law being brought to the agenda."
