The Directorate of Communications issued a statement regarding the meeting. The statement from the Directorate of Communications included the following:

Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a phone call with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. During the meeting, bilateral relations between Turkey and Serbia, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.

In the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that the friendship and solidarity between the two countries are strengthening, that Turkey hopes for the new government in Serbia to be formed as soon as possible and for peace and stability to be maintained, and that they will continue to develop bilateral relations with the new government to be formed.

President Erdoğan expressed that the joint efforts put forth to increase areas of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the defense industry, are expected to bear fruit in the near future.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed his sadness regarding the accident Vucic had in his official vehicle on February 8 and conveyed his best wishes for a speedy recovery. Serbian President Vucic also congratulated President Erdoğan on his birthday.
