President Erdoğan to visit Qatar

After attending the 28th UN Climate Change Conference in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this week, President Erdoğan is now heading to Qatar. Erdoğan will be in Doha on December 4-5 and will be welcomed with an official ceremony at the Amiri Diwan by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

'CEASEFIRE' IN GAZA TO BE ON THE AGENDA

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the World Climate Action Summit held in the UAE on December 1 as part of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Speaking at the summit, Erdoğan also met with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where they evaluated Israel's resumption of attacks on Gaza, the steps Turkey has taken for humanitarian aid and peace, and Turkey-UAE relations.

This time, Erdoğan is heading to Qatar. Having last gone on a tour in July covering Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, which was focused on an economic agenda and the signing of various agreements, Gaza is now at the top of Erdoğan's agenda.

TURKEY-QATAR MEETING

Erdoğan, who will be in Doha on December 4-5, will be welcomed with an official ceremony at the Amiri Diwan by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Erdoğan and Al Thani will hold a one-on-one meeting and attend the 9th Turkey-Qatar High Strategic Committee Meeting. Following the signing of joint agreements, President Erdoğan will attend an official dinner hosted in his honor by the Emir of Qatar, Al Thani.

MEDIATION TALKS

The main agenda of Erdoğan's talks in Doha will be the conflict between Israel and Hamas and a permanent ceasefire. In this regard, Erdoğan is expected to hold talks with Qatar, which mediates the humanitarian pause, on extending and making the ceasefire in Gaza permanent.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will serve as acting president during Erdoğan's visit to Qatar.
