Threat to workers from Presidential Chief Advisor: Either the state leads or...

A scandalous statement has come from the political wing that turned its back on demands for May Day celebrations in Taksim Square and effectively placed the city under blockade. Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral targeted the workers who faced police intervention while attempting to march to Taksim.

Demonstrators who gathered in Saraçhane and wanted to march to Taksim Square were met with a police barricade at the historic Valens Aqueduct. Following the scuffle, workers were once again denied permission to hold May Day celebrations in Taksim Square this year.

Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral made a threatening post on his social media account regarding the events.

Saral targeted the workers with the words, "Democracy is too much for you and those like you who do not recognize laws and rules... Either the state leads or the raven gets the carcass!"

'DEMOCRACY IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU'

Ignoring the workers' right to march to Taksim, Saral accused them of 'vandalism'.

Stating, "The path for those whose concern is to celebrate May Day should not be Taksim...", Saral used the following expressions in his post:

You will not accept celebrating in many areas deemed appropriate by the state, you will sanctify and make a taboo of Taksim just to create chaos... I am speaking to the vandals who attack the state's security forces and their supporters; what would your end be if you committed these acts of vandalism in the countries you hold up as examples of democracy, primarily the USA and European countries. Democracy is too much for you and those like you who do not recognize laws and rules... Either the state leads or the raven gets the carcass!
