Presidential Chief Advisor Uçum's 'internal front' commentary citing Atatürk: 'The Turkey Front...'

Presidential Chief Advisor and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board, Mehmet Uçum, made a post on social media regarding the "internal front."

Uçum stated the following: 

ATATÜRK EXAMPLE

"A Sunday Note: 

THE INTERNAL FRONT IS THE TURKEY FRONT!

The concept of the Internal Front, which Atatürk included in his Nutuk (Speech), has been brought back to the agenda by President Erdoğan. Mr. Bahçeli also emphasizes the Internal Front comprehensively, occasionally referencing Atatürk.  

President Erdoğan pointed out that Turkey must keep its internal front strong against the ring of fire created by the genocidal and fascist Israeli administration in our region and the destructive projects of global imperialism. This statement also sparked a debate regarding what the internal front is. 

There may be different assessments regarding what should be concretely understood from the internal front and its content, based on its historical and current dimensions. However, it is possible to reach a consensus on a general framework.

'THE FORCE ALSO FORMED BY THE CHP AND OTHER OPPOSITION GROUPS...'

Accordingly, with the approach that the internal front is Turkey's National Democratic Front perspective, the following definition can be made:

That the first of its greatest social forces is the People's Alliance, 

in favor of full independence, 

geographical integrity, 

political unity, and 

where all anti-imperialist forces unite, 

Acting with the goals of protecting, strengthening, and developing Turkey,

the force formed by all national powers, including patriotic, national, and nationalist forces within the CHP and other opposition channels, together with the National State, constitutes the internal front. 

COMMENTARY ON THE 'TURKEY FRONT'

Since the term 'front' is a military term, criticisms may be raised that using it as an 'internal front' in domestic politics could militarize democratic politics. If the internal front is used in terms of competition in domestic politics, this criticism may be justified.

However, the 'internal front' expression mentioned here should be evaluated differently, as it does not refer to domestic democratic political competition, but rather, as it also appears in Atatürk's perspective, it points to the integrity of the National State and National Power Elements against various risks directed at the country, and is used for this purpose."

In conclusion, it is understood that the Internal Front is evaluated as the 'Turkey Front,' which is the synthesis of the National Power Elements and the National State against all external threats and risks."
