According to a report by Cumhuriyet, IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez has brought the issue to the Parliament's agenda. He submitted a written parliamentary question to Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya regarding how much in traffic fines was collected in 2024 and 2025, particularly during holiday periods.
Çömez stated that the government had targeted collecting 20 billion TL in traffic fines in 2024, but ended up collecting 44 billion TL. Expressing that the target for 2025 is 55 billion TL, Çömez said, "But they showed such great effort that the fines issued in the first 4 months reached 55 billion TL. They are working hard this holiday as well; at this rate, the collection will reach 150 billion TL by the end of the year."
