Reaction to 'absolute nullity' in Trabzon CHP: 'The will of the organization is being ignored'

Reactions to the removal decisions within the CHP in Trabzon were voiced during an open-mic press statement held at Atatürk Square. In the statement led by the Trabzon Labor and Democracy Platform, it was argued that there has been interference with elected provincial and district chairs, the will of the delegates, and democratic values.
The statement was attended by former CHP Women's Branches Deputy Chair and Central Executive Board (MYK) member Çağla Özgür, former CHP Ortahisar District Chair Haluk Batmaz, and the removed Trabzon Provincial Chair Mustafa Bak. Former CHP Rize Provincial Chair Saltuk Deniz and Giresun Provincial Chair Gökhan Şenyürek also supported the program.
“THE LAW MUST WORK FOR EVERYONE”
Çağla Özgür, who was recently removed from her position in the women's branches, stated that what is happening cannot be seen as a personal change of duty. Özgür said that in the same process, administrators in many provinces and districts were removed from their posts, dragging the organizations into uncertainty.
Expressing that the issue is not just an internal party debate, Özgür stated that the understanding of “those appointed in place of the elected, power instead of law, and imposition instead of consultation” damages the society's sense of justice. She said, “Justice must be for everyone. The law must work for everyone. Democracy must be protected for everyone.”
Former CHP Ortahisar District Chair Haluk Batmaz also reacted harshly to the removal decisions in his speech. Describing the process within the party with the terms “post-modern political mafia” and “gang,” Batmaz addressed those who made the decisions, saying, “We will not let you pass.”
The removed Trabzon Provincial Chair Mustafa Bak said that the Trabzon Provincial Organization was removed last week and that he himself was referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion. Stating that he has worn the CHP badge for 40 years, Bak emphasized that he received his mandate from the party organization and the public.
In his speech, Bak targeted Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his circle. Stating that Rize Provincial Chair Saltuk Deniz, district chairs, women's and youth branches, and party members are by his side, Bak used harsh expressions towards Kılıçdaroğlu and said, “My companions are by my side.”
