Continuing his local election campaign, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel attended the project introduction meeting of İzmir Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel.

Speaking at the event, Özel thanked Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel for her services. Emphasizing that Sengel has paid off the municipality's debts, Özel stated, "Jobs that were previously outsourced to others are now being done by the municipality. Waste has ended, and service has taken its place. Since that day, Filiz Ceritoğlu has both made the vote you cast for her worthwhile with what she has done in Selçuk, and she has honored and made us proud, and she has not let down anyone who trusted her. I applaud her wholeheartedly and congratulate her."

In the continuation of his speech, Özel touched upon the period when AKP Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu served as Minister of Interior. Stating that Soylu has fixated on two people in Turkey, Özel said, "One of them is Filiz Ceritoğlu, and the other is Ekrem İmamoğlu. He dealt with both of them specifically and took them to court. He even set up traps for Mr. Ekrem and had him sentenced. He also fixated on Filiz here, saying 'Oh, how could you call it Ephesus Selçuk instead of just Selçuk.' Our court case is still ongoing. But let me say to Süleyman Soylu today what I said to him that day: Mayor Filiz, do not be afraid of anyone. The ant has a brother, and that brother is the CHP members."
