Republic Day message from Ekrem İmamoğlu: 'The struggle for change and transformation continues'

In a video message released for the October 29 Republic Day, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu called for an end to the decay in the country, stating, "We have set out, and we are walking with determination." İmamoğlu invited all citizens to this evening's Republic Day celebrations.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu released a video message from the Atatürk House in Şişli on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day. Celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic, İmamoğlu addressed the citizens, stating, "The struggle for change and transformation continues. We have set out, and we are walking with determination." Inviting all citizens to the Republic Day celebrations to be held this evening, İmamoğlu emphasized the values of the Republic and commemorated Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms.

İmamoğlu began his message with the words, "We are in Şişli, we are at Atatürk's house. My fellow citizens, my dear compatriots, happy 101st anniversary of our Republic. May the souls of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms rest in peace." Stating that the Republic was established as a system based on national sovereignty after passing through great wars, İmamoğlu pointed out that the main problem is the decay in the political, institutional, and social order.

OUR MAIN TEST IS TO STOP THE DECAY 

Touching upon the problem of decay in the country, İmamoğlu said, "Our main test is to stop this decay, to renew ourselves, and to stand back up." Pointing out that the solution to problems that seem unsolvable is possible in a democratic environment and through social consensus, the IMM Mayor emphasized that the state needs to reconcile with all its citizens and, in particular, to come together with hopeless youth.
