It has been learned that Balcı, who left his post on August 31, is the son-in-law of Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik. Journalist Barış Pehlivan shared the company's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) announcement and asked, "Where do the very 'smart' sons-in-law of the people to whom we entrust the country's treasury keep popping up from? The KAP notification regarding the departure of İskender Balcı from the management of Özata Denizcilik—a company that has been in the spotlight due to stock transactions involving Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, who requested to be "relieved" of her duties as AKP Deputy Chair—has returned to the agenda.

The statement on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) indicated that Balcı resigned from his position as an independent board member as of August 31, 2026. The statement also noted that a decision had been made to appoint Serkan Sönmez to the vacant independent board seat.

Journalist Barış Pehlivan drew attention to the resignation in a post on his social media account, stating that Balcı is the son-in-law of Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik.


In his post, Pehlivan evaluated the development alongside Kaya's stock sales and asked whether Mehmet Şimşek would question his deputy on the matter.
