The exodus continues in the IYI Party, where news of resignations has been arriving one after another. IYI Party Istanbul Media Chair Aslı Duru announced that she has resigned from her party.

In her statement, Duru shared a screenshot, using the phrase, "I have resigned from the IYI Party, of which I was a member, due to necessity."

WHO IS ASLI DURU?

A former reporter and anchor for CNNTURK and FBTV, Aslı Duru was serving as a member of the Rumeli Turks Foundation and as the IYI Party Istanbul Media Chair.

SUCCESSIVE RESIGNATIONS IN IYI PARTY

Most recently, yesterday, Mithat Solgun, a member of the IYI Party Adıyaman Founders' Board, and former IYI Party Antalya Provincial Chair Ahmet Aydın also announced their resignations.

Ahmet Aydın had announced that he resigned following the IYI Party's decision to enter the local elections 'freely and independently'.

Stating, "Neither my mind nor my heart can accept the local administration program we carried out in harmony with the Republican People's Party being moved to a negative point," Aydın noted the following in his statement:

"The capital of politics is people, and its gain is hearts. A political structure and a politician should not recklessly spend their capital and gains. Because the basic mentality of politics is the effort to turn 1 into 2, and with the synergy captured, to turn 2 into 5.

A candidate can attract voters at a certain level with their own dialectic rather than the ideological stance or structure of their party. In short, this matter is also related to the politician's ability to touch the public and the synergy they put forward.

Because the issue is that neither my mind nor my heart can accept the local administration program we carried out in harmony with the Republican People's Party being moved to a negative point.

It is clear that we will be significantly weakened due to this policy on the road to the 2024 Local Elections, which we set out on saying 'we will weigh ourselves.' I do not think that the election in which we will weigh ourselves is the local election. I have swallowed every injustice done to me until today; I did not engage in clamor or rebellion. All of Antalya is a witness to what has been experienced.

However, saying that I cannot turn a blind eye to injustice being done to my principles, my ideals, and my country; I am resigning from the IYI Party, for which we have been struggling since November 2015, as of today, in order not to be a partner in the wrong policies pursued since the General Election, not to drag our country into a new bottleneck despite the bottleneck it is in regarding its future, and to work to solve the problem at the grassroots level to contribute to creating hope again. I submit this to the public with my respects."
