Lawyers Melih Koçhan and Cihan Ünal, representing the detained Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, responded with a written statement to claims circulating in the public sphere in recent days that he "wanted to become a whistleblower" and "submitted a handwritten statement." The statement emphasized that these claims have no basis in reality.

The public information notice signed by the lawyers included the following statements:
"To the press and the public,
In recent days, baseless and misleading content has been circulated on social media regarding the detained Beylikdüzü Mayor, Mr. Mehmet Murat Çalık.
The claims that our client supposedly 'wanted to become a whistleblower' and 'submitted a handwritten statement';
Are completely untrue,
Are not based on any official document or judicial record,
Are a perception operation aimed at influencing a fair trial and misleading the public.
Such posts;
Constitute potential offenses under TCK 285 – Violation of the confidentiality of an investigation,
TCK 288 – Attempting to influence a fair trial,
TCK 204 – Forgery of an official document.
Necessary criminal complaints will be filed against those responsible.
