Response from Özlem Vural, who joined the AKP, to Özgür Özel: 'We accepted it gladly'

Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel, who resigned from the CHP to join the AKP, spoke at an organization meeting program organized by the AKP Beykoz District Presidency. Gürzel thanked the AKP members who welcomed her warmly and said, "Today we are together with the provincial organization for the first time. From now on, we will have plenty of opportunities to get to know each other. Thank you all very much. We gladly accepted this invitation for including me among you."

Pointing out that only service will be discussed in Beykoz from now on, Gürzel stated, "In Beykoz, we will only talk about service from now on; there will be no fighting or chaos, and we will work in happiness and harmony." This statement by Gürzel was met with great satisfaction within the AKP.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel evaluated the process in Beykoz and summarized it by saying, "After the mayor was arrested and then released, our Deputy Mayor had said, 'The mayor will join the AKP and be reinstated to his post.' Shortly after, the mayor was arrested again, and the Deputy Mayor joined the AKP yesterday."

Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel had announced on her social media account that she had resigned from her party and had been subjected to threats and pressure within the party.

Gürzel stated that the CHP administration did not offer any solutions during this process. Furthermore, expressing that she received support from AKP and MHP council members, Gürzel had said, "I also want it to be known that I am supported and valued by the people of Beykoz."
