Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Deputy Oğuz Kaan Salıcı made notable statements regarding the Party Charter Convention planned for the first week of September.

In his statement addressed to convention delegates and citizens, Oğuz Kaan Salıcı emphasized the importance of the organization within the party, stating that the CHP is not a political party held captive under the guardianship of individuals.

Stating that "the sole owner of the CHP is its organization," Salıcı expressed that the party is a "member-organization-program" party and said, "Our party is not a party of 'my person'."

TRANSPARENCY AND PARTICIPATION MUST BE ESSENTIAL

In his call to the convention delegates, Salıcı said, "I advise all my fellow travelers to support all charter proposals that will strengthen intra-party democracy, make our organization resilient, protect the rights of our party members, pave the way for new politicians raised within the organization, and are committed to the principles of transparency and participation."

Drawing attention to the charter amendments made in 2012 and 2018, Salıcı stated, "Ultimately, let us prepare a permanent charter that is progressive, contemporary, continuous, and transcends the coup-era Law on Political Parties, so that we do not have to change it every six years."
