Şamil Tayyar issues ballot box warning to AKP following inflation figures
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar issued warnings regarding the impact of current economic policies on the public in a social media post following the release of April inflation data. Emphasizing that social pressures are mounting, particularly due to the long-standing tight monetary policy, Tayyar delivered a serious message to his party regarding the upcoming elections.

With the data released in April, it was announced that monthly inflation rose to 4.18 percent, while annual inflation climbed to 32.37 percent. Following these developments, former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar implied that the economic management's insistence on current policies carries risks for both citizens and the party.
Stating that rising prices cannot be explained solely by international developments, Tayyar assessed, "The impact of the war on oil and natural gas remained limited; the current inflation level is the result of economic policies implemented in recent years."
Drawing attention to the approaching election period, Tayyar expressed that the long-standing policies have caused discomfort in society. Arguing that the tightening policies implemented over the last three years have led to a crisis, Tayyar stated that the focus should be on improving income distribution rather than increasing the tax burden.
In his post on the social media platform X, Tayyar expressed the following:
"April inflation was announced as 4.18 percent.
Thus, annual inflation became 32.37 percent.
The price increase triggered by the war through oil and natural gas was inevitable.
However, the current inflation table is the product of the last 3 years, and the share of the war's negative impact in the last two months is very low in the total.
Even if we thought otherwise, countries are ultimately prepared for all kinds of shocks and reconfigure their game plans according to these risks.
If you insist on the old game plan even though the dynamics have changed, you will be left halfway.
As İşbank General Manager Hakan Aran said, the anti-inflation program needs to be paused after the Iran war.
It is correct; every new piece of data confirms this foresight.
There is no such thing as a 3-year tightening policy; society is in a crisis, the place is a scene of fire.
We must now spread prosperity to the base, not taxes; the time has come, it is passing.
And there is a ballot box on the horizon."
