Having rejected the CHP's offer for cooperation in the local elections, the IYI Party has begun work to determine its candidates in metropolitan cities.
It is eagerly awaited which names IYI Party leader Meral Akşener will field against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, whom she had pointed to as presidential candidates during the crisis process experienced within the Table of Six during the presidential elections.
According to the report by Cumhuriyet; the candidacy of IYI Party Organization President Buğra Kavuncu in Istanbul, and Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu and Political Affairs President Oktay Vural in Ankara were being discussed. However, it was claimed that Zorlu and Kavuncu were hesitant about running.
SERVET AVCI CLAIM
A surprise name has come to the agenda in the IYI Party, which has entered a search for an 'idealist' (ülkücü) origin candidate to run against Mansur Yavaş for Ankara.
It is being discussed in the lobbies that an offer will be made to Servet Avcı, a chief advisor of "idealist" origin who worked with Yavaş since 2015 but was dismissed by him in October, to run for Ankara.
While it is claimed that Akşener has given instructions for the offer, it is commented that "Avcı's candidacy would put both Yavaş and Turgut Altınok, who is rumored to be the AKP's candidate, in a difficult position."
